first storms of the season
oct 26th & already tahoe has over 60 inches of snow @ lake level. what a way to start the season. alpine, squaw, sugar bowl and kirkwood all to open this coming weekend. earliest opening in both alpine and squaws history.
from the alpine web site:
The October 30 opening day is Alpine’s earliest opening day in history. Due to early snow storms, the mountain is unusually well-covered, and will offer both groomed trails and some off-piste terrain. “This is the most snow the region has received in October since 1945,” said Gary Murphy, Alpine Meadows Avalanche Forecaster. Alpine Meadows has received a total of 48 inches of snow at its base lodge so far this month.

5 days and counting....
it is inconceivable to me that this race is still so close with 5 days left to go. the bush administration has set a new standard for incompetence in both foreign and domestic policy. not to mention in terms of deceit and fear mongering. hell, these guys make nixon and his crew look like jimmy carter - soft and weak.
one can only hope that the voters in the swing states that will decide this election (OH, WI, PA, FLA, MI) decide that the incumbent's record is not deserving of a second term.
